Special Education Training Opportunity - IEP Partner Program

"This intensive 2-day training is for people who would like to become more familiar with the special education process and support parents at their IEP meetings as volunteers for the Oregon Parent Training & Information Center (or Native Indian Parent Information Center). This training is based on Oregon special education law.
Training includes: IDEA, Basic Rights/IEP, High School Transition, Behavior and the IEP, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Spec. Ed, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Section 504."

"The Oregon Parent Training and Information Center in partnership with the Oregon Department of Education is offering a Mediation Partner Training to currently active IEP Partners.

Mediation is a dispute resolution option for parents and school districts. A mediation usually lasts from 2 – 8 hrs. Preparation and meeting times are generally longer than IEP meetings, therefore, OrPTI offers $100.00 for each mediation attended.

Registrants must be current IEP Partners. This would include the completion of the IEP Partner training April 18th & 19th, 2012."
